Kate’s Family Time
Family is everything! Time with my 3 children, KC, Cara, and Cola, and my extended family, fuels me to always bring my best to my clients and keeps me in touch with what really matters in life. Staying young at heart and physically active is as important as any financial plan. As you will see, no activity is off limits, and participation is not optional! Even if water skiing and ropes courses are not your thing, I encourage everyone to enjoy the outdoors whenever you can, and reach out to family and friends as often as possible for some good conversation and laughter!
EMICO’s Client Community
Veteran’s Day Open House & ETF Presentation – November 2014
In November, 2014, we once again celebrated our military by doing a Veteran’s Day Open House at our office We had a speaker discuss Exchange Traded Funds as a tax efficient investment vehicle. Clients learned and enjoyed a buffet dinner. Clients, dressed in red, white, and blue, also helped us kick off our new and on-going service project for “Operation Gratitude.” Operation Gratitude sends over 100,000 care packages annually to our troops all over the world. We contributed by collecting unused Halloween candy, writing letters to active troops and veterans, and making paracord survival bracelets. Clients stayed well into the night as we made over 100 bracelets and collected 117 pounds of candy!
State of the Market & Valentine’s Dinner 2014
Just before Valentine’s Day in 2014, our clients were invited to a State of the Market dinner presentation, or a lunch and learn that same week. We took this opportunity to make Valentine cards again for the kids at Scottish Rite hospital and observed several clients with a knack for creativity.
Oktoberfest – November 2013
Clients came to celebrate Oktoberfest 2013.…in November, and learn about the future of our firm. They had fun earning tickets for prizes by playing darts and pool, and enjoyed a tour by the brew master of the brewery. Prizes included a football signed by the Atlanta Falcon’s players, golf shirts and hats, pen sets, and a miniature Falcons football helmet signed by Coach Mike Smith. Clients were also given an entrance exam for the nonexistent “University of Okiboji”…. the board of regents of the University offered admission to only a select few clients! We all enjoyed the seasonal fall harvest cuisine while mingling and getting to know one another. Everyone showed their competitive side, and one lucky client won the contest for coming up with the best new name for our firm!
Lunch & Shred – May 2013
Spring cleaning 2013 was in full swing for our clients as we held a “Lunch & Shred” event. Will and Ben helped unload client’s cars and trucks loaded down with papers to shred. We think the oldest document may have had a 1940s date?
State of the Market and St. Patrick’s Day Dinner - March 2013
Our annual State of the Market presentation happened to land on St. Patty’s Day in 2013. Our clients celebrated the wearing of the green at a fine Italian restaurant where they heard a review of the 2012 financial markets and a preview of 2013. Of course we had a visit from a friendly leprechaun who passed out Lucky Charm cereal to the winners of the “Blarney” game.
Social Security Presentation – March 2013
Social Security…many, many rules and calculations!! In the fall of 2013 we hosted a dinner/discussion for our clients who were dealing with, or close to dealing with, the complexity of the social security system. We discussed the viability of the system and the potential impact of changes on the client’s potential retirement plans. To bring home the point of the Social Security Administration’s viability, we compared the Social Security Administration system to saving in a piggy bank and ultimately withdrawing from that bank. To best illustrate the point, the EMICO staff participated in a competition to artistically, and for less than $5, create the “winning piggy bank.” Our clients then matched our creative designs with the EMICO artist…providing many giggles!
Veteran's Day Open House & REIT Presentation - November 2012
On Veteran's Day 2012, our clients were invited to an open house in our new office space. All decorated in red, white, and blue, we surprised many of our veterans with pictures and a slide show of them in uniform, with World War II vets through Vietnam all honored. We collected several boxes of goodies to send to a client's son's platoon serving in Afghanistan and made holiday cards to be sent to soldiers and sailors serving during the upcoming holiday season. Good ol' southern barbeque was served and representatives from three real estate companies spoke about the current real estate markets.
State of the Market & Valentine’s Dinner 2011
Our 2011 State of the Market was offered as a dinner, a lunch and learn at the office, and as our inaugural GoTo Meeting. We had fun taking our valentine decorations to the kids at Scottish Rite hospital.
