Meet Kate

Thank you for visiting EMICO Advisory Services. We are very proud of what we do here at EMICO. Let me share with you how we got started.

In 2004, after 25 years in the financial services industry, I stepped out of ‘Corporate America’ to spend more time with my kids, all under the age of 5, and care for my newly relocated mother. I had everything in place. I had assets, investments, insurance, estate plan, etc. Each area was analyzed and exceptionally well-designed. However, these life changes forced me to look at my overall financial picture in a different way. I realized that, although my affairs were in good order, they were not interrelated, nor aligned with my current reality. With my background and experience in the financial services industry, along with my vast analytical skills, I became my own financial advisor. My goal was to give myself peace of mind that I could support my lifestyle and my family for the rest of my days, and protect my family in the event of a disability or death. I had to re-package my plan and point it in the right direction consistent with my current reality. Knowing I had accumulated the unique combination of skills to do this, I began helping family members align and customize their financial plans to their unique circumstances. This expanded to friends, and friends of friends, to what is now the client community of EMICO Advisory Services.

In 2006, I formally set up EMICO. “EMICO” (Erie Malleable Iron Co.) was the name of my father’s company. Growing up in Erie, Pennsylvania around my father’s company, everything was labeled with “EMICO” – golf balls, t-shirts, pens, etc. Since then I recently learned that the word “emic” refers to an anthropologic method of researching human beings from within their culture. The researcher puts aside any prior theories or assumptions in order to discover how a particular individual thinks, sees the world, and what is most meaningful to that individual. This describes the method I use. I give advice based on clients’ individual needs and desires for their financial future. I know that no two clients are alike; therefore, no two plans will be alike. I want to know what every client needs and dreams about, in order to advise a path that best fulfills their vision for the immediate future and future generations. My clients tell me they sleep better at night, and feel cared for and reassured that someone is looking out for their financial well-being. I am passionate about helping people make sound financial decisions. As for my credentials, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Math from St. Bonaventure University and Master of Business Administration from Miami University. I also hold the following securities registrations: Series 7, 24, 63, and 66, Insurance licensing in 15 states, and Investment licensing in 17 states.

Upon completion of my graduate studies, I worked as a money manager in the Portfolio Investment Department of a large pension fund. I then spent 17 years with major Wall Street firms, reaching the level of Director of Taxable Fixed Income. I am a Registered Representative with Osaic Advisory Services. a leading broker-dealer in the independent financial industry. In addition to my professional achievements, I am an Atlanta resident of 30 years, enjoy school and recreational activities with my three children, and participate in many new activities, including aerial ropes courses, tubing, and visiting National Parks across the country. I occasionally speak to church and community groups about international adoption, and I am a board member of the US10K Classic, a family festival and race that raises awareness and funding for neglected and homeless children. I also enjoy tennis, golf, and most of all, beach time with an occasional visit to the local hot dog stand.

If I may be of service in helping you find peace of mind with your financial future, please reach out to us by phone or email.
